Water
The origin of the name "Maassluis" is the lock (sluis) in the river Maas between Rotterdam and the North Sea.

Near Maassluis we find the latest project of the water management system in Holland.
A storm surge barrier with the name: Maeslantkering

A yearly returning marine event is the Furieade. This event started for the first time with the naming of the ship "Furie" in 1980.

You can see this ship on  one of the panorama images.

In the front you see a water pumping system to control the level of the water in the canals (Veerstraat) of Maassluis.
